A pioneer in footwork – no, a legend. Rashad Harden, more commonly known as DJ Rashad, was an innovator and a leader in electronic music. Starting out as a respected dancer, Harden found a unique perspective to bring with him into the world of DJing and producing, which undoubtedly helped to drive many of the breakthroughs for which he is responsible. Native to Chicago, Harden found influence in the scene of the city, looking towards ghetto house, disco, juke, and elsewhere for inspiration. Both solo and with his long-time musical partner DJ Spinn (whom he met in high school), Harden released a number of EPs and full length albums, the latest of which, Double Cup, was released in 2013. We had the good fortune to be blessed with his presence in February of 2014, weeks before his tragic passing. Rest in peace.
