Surfer Blood emerged from West Palm Beach, Florida in early 2009. Comprised of John Paul Pitts on lead vocals/guitar, Mike Mcleary on guitar/vocals, Lindsey Mill on bass/vocals, and Tyler Schwarz on drums, the group gained recognition with their first single “Swim” after it received positive reviews from fans and critics. The band played Signal Kitchen in 2013 and left us with a live recording of “Drinking Problem” off their 2011 album Tarot Classics. The tune contrasts soft guitar riffs that crescendo into a spacey rock atmosphere with ominous vocal lines formed in a style characteristic of the group. Pitts sings “at least I know who my friends are” as Mcleary and Mill weave a gentle musical backdrop that blossoms into something heavier while Schwarz drives the energy forward with a steady, but increasingly aggressive beat.
