Permanently masked and generally engulfed in smoke, producer Slow Magic is literally and figuratively a shrouded character whose music has been described as “the sound made by an unknown imaginary friend.” Although mystery is the game at hand, his music has become quite well-known in recent years as he has toured with the likes of Gold Panda and XXYYXX and released two full-length albums, Triangle and How to Run Away in 2012 and 2014 respectively, as well as several singles and remixes.
Slow Magic takes calm and tranquil electronic vibes and expands them through big productions to seem larger than life, turning simple synth riffs into landscape backdrops for relaxing melodies. Chopped and pitched vocal edits lend a certain kawaii aspect to his palette, but are balanced out by more organic (although still electronic) drum patterns and traditional instruments.
