Danish artist Mikkel Hess stopped by Signal Kitchen along with the collective of musicians who make up his transatlantic ensemble Hessismore. The vision that began as a solo project for Mikkel has grown over the course of more than 10 years to become the beautiful amalgam of talent that took the stage in Burlington. Alongside Mikkel were Michael Hanf on vibraphone, Martin Vejerano on percussion, Matt Parker on saxophone and keys, Pavel Kogan on Guitar, Bill Campbell on electric drums, Rasmus Bille Bahncke on the SH-101 bass synthesizer, and a special guest on trombone known only as Pablo.
With so much musicianship on stage it’s easy to see why the group is able to take a jazz-influenced, improvisational approach to their live performances. This faith in the congruence of performers breathes life into the music in a way that few bands can achieve. It’s no surprise that Hessismore was included in the “Top 10 Live Acts of 2014” by GlitterBallNYC.
