With forty years of experience in the music industry, Lee Fields encompasses the spirit of both soulful throwbacks and modern day music. Originally from North Carolina, Fields released his first R&B album in 1969 and hasn’t slowed down since. He continually releases new music that pays homage to the old days of soul and R&B, while remaining relevant and compelling to upcoming generations. Currently touring with The Expressions, Lee and his group incorporate a variety of styles that have allowed them to perform alongside big names like Kool and the Gang, Sammy Gordon and Aloe Blacc. Well respected on many fronts, artists like Jay-Z, Adele and Ghostface Killah have used the band’s music as a backdrop for their records. They played a phenomenal set at Signal Kitchen as part of the Discover Jazz Festival in 2013, and now we’re bringing them back for a very special New Year’s Eve at ArtsRiot.
