Brazilian indie crooner, Rodrigo Amarante, has been receiving praise for his solo work since the release of Cavalo, his first solo project, in 2014. Amarante has captured the attention of critics and audiences alike with his Brazilian-influenced indie folk/rock stylings, along with his superior guitar playing and songwriting abilities. Although this is Amarante’s solo debut, the singer-songwriter has been in the music industry for over a decade. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Amarante first began making music in 1997. His first band, Los Hermanos, released four albums before taking an indefinite hiatus in 2007 (although they continued to perform together). He then briefly played with In Little Joy alongside The Strokes drummer, Fabrizio Moretti, before beginning his solo career. Amarante moved to Los Angeles in 2012 and has stated that his feelings of being an outsider in a new city turned into creative fuel for many of the songs on his debut album.
