The Festival of Fools covers a lot of ground, and our line-up of both the foolish and the fantastic grows every year. With the world as it is, laughing has become even more important. That’s the foolish side. An equal measure of purpose, joy and love is now also needed. That’s the fantastic part.

The Resistance Revival Chorus started in NYC but has been recreated in cities across the country. The chorus is meant to remind us the power of what we can do together, with our voices united. As the organizers say, “The Resistance Revival Chorus is a group of women identifying people who bring song to life in the spirit of collective joy and resistance. We aim to bring together, in community, a group of diverse artists to join in songs of resistance and protest with the foundation that JOY is an act of resistance! Our movement must be fueled by equal parts protest and culture. Music and protest songs have always been a hallmark of the great civil rights movements. We honor this tradition by uplifting these songs and creating new ones for the new resistance.”

We thought it would be amazing to bring a local power house of voices together for Fools, and we reached out to Nicole Nelson (of Dwight & Nicole) to pull it all together and organize. On the steps of City Hall, come and listen to a beautiful chorus of strong, Vermont, women-identifying voices sing traditional protest songs of decades past. They still ring true today and this moment will be one you don’t want to miss!

The Festival of Fools runs from Friday, August 2 through Sunday, August 4 in Downtown Burlington, VT. Visit VTFOOLS.ORG for more information.

The Festival is presented by Community Bank NA, with additional support from Leunig’s Bistro & Cafe, Ben & Jerry’s, Hendrick’s Gin, Magic Hat Brewery and Dealer.com
