Tall Heights “spearhead a rising Boston scene” (Boston Herald) alongside Darlingside and the Ballroom Thieves, and they’ll take their captivating sound to a wider audience with the release of their new EP Holding on, Holding Out on October 9. The EP is stunning, taking the gorgeous harmonies and lyrical depth of their previous releases and adding subtle enhancement of synths and electronics to give the new songs a progressive edge. It’s as if someone mashed up Sound of Silence, Wildewoman and For Emma,
Forever Ago. The duo of Tim Harrington and Paul Wright will appear at the Americana Music Festival in Nashville in September, then head out on a coast-to-coast U.S. tour with Shook Twins, with more dates in the works.

“Spirit Cold” opens the EP, with soaring vocals and deft guitar and cello work eventually joined by synths and drums before exploding into the song’s final chorus. “Back to Autumn” has a pastoral yet poppy sound, an ode to Wright’s grandfather who passed away last year at 100 and whose cello Wright performs on. The EP’s title
track rises to a mighty crescendo of a chorus, with Harrington and Wright’s vocals snaking around a nimble cello line and a steady drum beat.

Childhood friends, Harrington and Wright began Tall Heights by busking in Boston’s Faneuil Hall, playing over 100 days and making enough money to help fund their first EP. In 2013, the duo self-released their debut fulllength album Man of Stone, taking the album to fans across the U.S., playing 300-plus shows in 2013 and
2014. Tall Heights have performed and toured with acts including The Wood Brothers, Wild Child, Laura Marling and Ben Sollee.
