Brooklyn, New York based and Tacoma, Washington born Eliot Lipp came to us sporting his forward-thinking, signature brand of electronic music and gave a wild performance at Signal Kitchen. Lipp has been active since 2004 when he first signed with Scott Herren of Prefuse 73’s Eastern Developments label and has gone on to release a slew of singles, EPs, and full length albums over the course of his career. His latest release, Watch the Shadows, came out in 2014 on the exceptionally popular Pretty Lights Music record label, run by the electronic artist of the same name. Drawing influence from Bay Area and Detroit rap, classic electro, 70’s fusion, early 90’s techno, and the post-rock scene of Chicago, Lipp’s music catalog is as diverse as it sounds. Despite having such a wide-range of musical influences, his production aesthetic and synthesizer programming sensibilities help to achieve a thematic tone and recognizable texture across the breadth of his work. Enjoy our recording of his set at Signal Kitchen.
